Dress Rehearsal
Washington (still)
First let me reassure everyone who was worried after seeing my Martini Video that:
a). this trip was doomed from Day One
or
b). the Lonely Stretch Of Interstate Plan (from the first Trailer Trash Mama blog) might actually be deployed this time
or
c). I’d really let myself go during my Reluctant Retirement
or
d). All of the above
Yes, the first day was not promising. And yes, mistakes were made by both of us (but mostly Billy Bob Danny Joe) and also yes, since the Pandemic, elastic waistbands are my friends
BUT
like a bad dress rehearsal the main performance goes off flawlessly. Right?
Dan did get the Beast backed up and into four different camping spots each night of our dress rehearsal.
He got the system working and all the necessary parts. LSOI Plan shelved for now.
We even had a send off with friends Jary, Jay and The Jims who should definitely form a Doo Wop group.
Definitely the highlight of our four day rehearsal.
Once I started loading stuff into the trailer it began to feel a whole lot smaller than I remembered. My plan to have everything tucked away and make clever use of the now dismally inadequate storage space has gone kaput.
I have once again lost my mind and decided that yes, I will definitely be needing a rolling pin for all the pies I’ll be baking on the road. And I read that there is a shortage of pasta looming in England so I’ve brought along at least 12 pounds of it. Because.
So, we have launched. First night at a state park near Portland as we head to California. Wine country. Thank god.
Have a wonderful time! Delightful blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOnly you, Pippa, would pack a rolling pin! I'm loving your blog! ❤️
ReplyDeleteYou know me too well!
DeleteHaha - the rolling pin sitting so innocently on the shelf, of course! I can't imagine you without one, Pippa -- and i'm sure you'll find all kinds of creative, ttma ways to use it while on your odyssey. Hugs to you both!
ReplyDeleteA useful weapon perhaps! There are bears out there you know.
